A new tradition

Built for Tamil weddings, the smaller family rituals, and the days between.

01

Modern, by intent.

Floating timber, warm white, a coral plinth. Built for today's wedding photographer. Calm enough for the ceremony, big enough for the reception.

02

Kumbakonam, by address.

Two kilometres from the Swamimalai Murugan temple and the UNESCO Airavatesvara temple at Darasuram. The town the Cholas built does the heavy lifting; we are the hosts.

03

Family, by feeling.

One coordinator, names known at the door, filter coffee on arrival. We host the wedding so you can host the family.

The Hall

Eleven thousand square feet,
without a column in sight.

We built the mandapam pillarless on purpose. The muhurtham photo holds every relative in the frame, with no granite in the way.

Eight gatherings, one address

Every ceremony has a season.
We hold them all.

From the first promise of the Nichayathartham to the long warm evening of the reception, JS Grand is built for the rhythm of a Tamil family year.

The J + S story

Two letters.
One family.

JS Grand is a family endeavour. A hall built for the weddings we ourselves grew up attending in Kumbakonam.

The town has been hosting weddings since the Cholas. Sarangapani Temple turns 1,200 years old this Mahamaham. The agraharam streets ringing the tank have seen more saptapadis than the rest of us will see sunrises. We did not invent any of this. We chose to host inside it.

The hall takes its restraint from the temples around it: stone, light, and the discipline to leave room for what matters. Where older mahals leaned on gilt and mirror, we leaned on warmth and air. The result is a venue that photographs like a modern home and gathers like an old family one.

We host the wedding. You host the family.

In their own words

Three families. Three weddings. One address.

The hall photographed itself. We didn't dress a single corner. Our parents are still talking about the courtyard.

Sneha & Karthik

Reception · Bangalore · January 2026

We had elders from three states, and not one of them had to ask twice for anything. The single-coordinator part is what made it work.

Lalitha Iyengar

Mother of the bride · Chennai · March 2026

Eight minutes from Sarangapani Temple to the mandapam. At this scale, that is the whole point.
